Peace please!
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about peace. You know, that feeling of inner calm, safety, the absence of conflict, and relative joy, all at once. Peace is often manifested by contentment, mental clarity, the ability to breathe deeply without heaviness, and the ability to just be. Without worry about the past, present or especially the future.
For years now, most people have not felt such peace.
It’s a difficult thing to chase. Life brings us trials and tribulations, joys and excitement, work and social pressures, the list goes on. All these, when put together, deprive us of the ability to just be at peace. Added to that, countries get into wars, causing even more instability and concern.
Throughout our school, work and sometimes even retired life, peace is elusive. However, if we’re lucky, we may find ourselves having fleeting moments of serenity – perhaps on a lazy beach vacation, or on a slow train ride to a restful weekend or just gazing at a sleeping baby for a few moments.
With the turmoil in the world around us, it’s getting harder to find peace on a personal level, and at the global level. It seems as if everyone is in search of power, might, fame, glory – anything but peace!
Global peace is essentially the absence of war, characterized by justice, mutual respect, and the rule of law. Attaining such peace involves cooperation, understanding, and the ability for all to live without fear, stress, or judgment.
On a personal level, peace involves respect, compassion, kindness and a hefty dose of tolerance.
If we observed these, I’m convinced that the world would be a better place, humans would be better creatures, and we would all have …… PEACE.
Let’s keep peace foremost in our minds – when we think, when we talk to others, in how we behave, what we do, what we read, and yes, what we watch.

We should all strive for a sense of calmness and tranquility where we feel safe and free from worries. May the world settle down and realize that it’s not war that it needs. It’s healing and peace!
